The founding of the Rapax-GmbH by introducing a company's logo.
The date of our founding has to be set to April 2nd, 1998. Despite the fact that our first ad was published on March 12th, this is the date when the first company's logo has been developed.
Manuel H., one of the three Rapax men and writer of this text, decided to create a logo using a 3D renderer program. (We used the raytracer "Reflections 3d" from "Oberland Computer"; a further development of this tool has been published as "Monzoom 3d"; information is to be found at http://www.monzoom.de). But what should the logo look like?

The logo shown in the first picture was just the 3D-text "RAPAX!". Really boring. But what should we take instead?
For playing chess was a meaningful thing that time in our school class (9a), Manuel H. decided to design a logo with a slantwise chessboard and a red "Rapax"-text in front of it. But whatever he did, the square didn't get checkered. So it remained white, without the tiniest spot of black color on it.

The second and third picture show the designed logos. The square and the text are enlightened by two spot lights. Though we still don't see anything checkered here, the third picture used to be our Rapax-logo for half a year, until the 3D-programm capitulated due to correct handling and the square got a chessboard.
