Intel Pentium

During the last weeks the intel Pentium Processor was seen in media (paper, tv etc.) within "pleasant" news. At some calculations the 4. digit after the comma is rounded wrong. This is all the (mathematic) coprocessor's fault which supports the processor at floating point calculations (FPU-Floating Point Unit). A FPU is often used for raytracing.

While Intel, Microsoft, NEC, Dell, Packard Bell and Gateway 2000 tried to de-emphasize this fault, IBM stopped its extradition of Pentium-based PCs. "The risk of errors at working with the processor is higher than estimated."

Millions of Pentium-owners want Intel to replace their processor with a faultless one. Maybe Intel will have to pay millions of dollars for recompensation. Especially in the USA where 30% of all advocators are specialized in claims of recompensation Intel will be asked to pay up.

Some people even say the "Intel inside" logo is a warning sign.
